Historic Lavenham : I know Lavenham well, as a child I delivered Sunday newspapers in Lavenham and the surrounding villages, in those days we did not worry about rain or snow just kept going. I recall visiting my paternal grandfather George, a native of Lavenham and apparently the last official town crier. I can certainly remember his cloak, tricorn hat and bell. He lived in Prentice Street and had a family of fourteen children. As a child I remember my Mother and I walking from Sudbury to Lavenham......barefoot!
Take the time to stroll around Lavenham and view the amazing architecture of this historic place.

Moving on from Lavenham we come to Long Melford : I was actually born here and have fond memories of early childhood. The lorry collecting workers and us children for a days work pea picking or spud bashing as it was known. My maternal grandfather was the local butcher, he closed down during the rationing period saying that if the meat available was all he could supply he would rather not. Places of interest will be Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall and a stroll down the main street and over Melford Green is most worthwhile.

The area has many places of interest and is one of natural beauty (but then I am biased). We will be adding more places as we carry on the never ending but enjoyable task of entertaining our guests and developing our website.
