Spring is here

Spring ! March always seems to me to be the 'start' of the year, the garden starts to awaken after its long Winter rest. Although, along with many others, I don't believe we have the cold weather that we used to get. I remember in the 60's and 70's if it snowed we simply equipped ourselves for any event, a shovel in the car, an extra coat, a blanket and a flask of tea and carried on regardless. These days it seems a dusting of the white stuff and we are advised not to venture out unless absolutely necessary! It was not unknown to have Spring snowfall!

So what has been happening here at Drinkstone Park Bed and Breakfast & Gardens?

The greenhouse is now complete! Christine has been filling it with lovely pots of plants which will come on to growth and flower as the weather warms, our guests will be welcome to go into the greenhouse and the new garden surrounding it and we hope you will enjoy this new area. We will keep you updated with pictures as the garden progresses through our Facebook page www.facebook.com/drinkstonepark

Speaking of Facebook did you know you can now check availability and book online through our Facebook page?

Take a look, Facebook is not a booking agent, it is direct booking and as you know Book Direct is Always Best, the best price is always direct and a direct booking usually gives more. Should you choose to book through Facebook enter the promo code Facebook1 which for a limited time will give you an additional discount complete with Christine's Tea and Scones on arrival and a small decanter of port in your room for that nightcap.

We went off on a little holiday in early February, Tegan and George went to stay with Auntie Sue and Uncle Mark.

While we were away the decorators came and worked their way through making everything ship shape for this seasons guests. The plumbers and builders came and set to work in the Red Room en suite, the result is a much larger shower and a smaller bank account for me. Some of our regular guests who come to work in the area or visit family had asked if they could stay while we were away, this worked well although no cooking was done! It appears that the fresh bread and milk with tea and coffee was enough.

We have also acquired a new breakfast table, this is a larger table which has been purpose made from heavy reclaimed timber. We felt it would be good to give our guests that little bit of extra room at breakfast, the only problem we have encountered was that it was difficult to reach across and select from Christine's new jam and marmalade collection! The answer was easy in the end and the acquisition of a Lazy Susan has resolved the issue.

It certainly looks like being a busy summer again this year, with bookings from both new guests and the many who come regularly each year and many more than just once! We can honestly say they have become more friends than guests. If you are planning to visit this Spring then take a look at our Specials for guests wishing to stay for three nights or longer.

Whether your visit is for business or pleasure, your first visit or coming to see us again, you will be most welcome.
