December at Drinkstone Park - Already!
What a year, not that we are complaining it has been incredibly busy and very enjoyable with many who now come to us regularly either for a short break or on business in the area (some do both). Christine has completely recovered from the broken ankle ordeal, Tegan and George continue to greet and amuse our friends and guests as always! It is noticeable how outgoing George has become this year, difficult to imagine the George who ran and hid from anyone or anything new to him.
Our Winter Break has been very popular, usually of three or four nights, with Christine's tea and scones by the wood burner in the lounge, a good breakfast and relaxation or maybe a walk in Bradfield Woods. A Winter tonic we are told. Add to that visits to local market towns or the coast it gives a different and invigorating view of our countryside. Booking Winter Breaks now for January February.
We have had a couple of visits from a lovely couple who come with a guide dog called Harvey, it amazes me that Tegan and Harvey will play happily together, however if Harvey is working Tegan will just sit quietly and watch. There has to be communication between these super animals.
More than ever our guests many of whom we can call friends, are already booking in for 2019! The Red and Peach ground floor garden rooms can only be booked on our website or by telephone at the moment.
After much trouble with water clarity and otters we decided to change the pond to ornamental after many years of koi carp. We were surprised at the result, after bringing in some 200 ornamental fish and several specimen water lilies and marginals it was a delight to us and our visitors to sit and relax by the pond. Disaster struck however in the form of the local otter who munched his way through most of the fish! The final decision on how to proceed has yet to be reached, rest assured the pond and seating areas will be there for your enjoyment in 2019, we look forward to seeing you.
